The Hospitality Ministry welcomes newly registered parishioners to Holy Name.
The expectations for this ministry are:
- 1-2 home visits monthly, preferably with a partner
- A group meeting every 2-3 months for sharing
Characteristics of Hospitality:
- Personal Presence: enjoying being with people and being truly present to them.
- Making space: taking time to make room for others in our lives.
- Inner attitude: hospitality becomes a way of life seven days a week.
Hospitality has been defined as "the quality of being friendly and solicitous toward new arrivals."
Scripture quotes:
"I was a stranger and you welcomed me." - Mt 25:35
"Continue to love each other and remember always to welcome strangers, for by doing this some people have entertained angels without knowing it." - Heb. 13:1-2
Examination of Conscience on Christian Hospitality:
- Am I a welcoming person?
- Is there room in my life for others or am I too busy?
- Do I extend the welcoming gesture, the warm smile?
- Do I hear with my heart as well as with my head?
- Do I go out of my way even when it is not convenient to do so?
- Do I work on my own spiritual development?
- Am I open to full, conscious, active participation at worship and in parish activities?
- Do I make an effort to encounter Jesus Christ in the people with whom I work, play, and worship?
