The Youth Group at HNCC is a new and growing program. Our time spent together appears to revolve around, “Food, Fun and Friends” with “Faith” being the connector of everything we do.

Here at Holy Name Youth Group, we have two programs available to High School teens. First, our Wednesday nights are either a bible study or teen topics. This is a short program beginning at 6:30 and concluding at 7:30 in the Pastoral Center Youth Room among some very comfy couches. This night is a more casual atmosphere. While we eat pizza, we begin our topic and everyone is sent home after prayer. We have been known to hang around earlier then 6:30 for some foosball, or stay a while longer honing our dominoes skills. Come and join us and you’ll for sure learn some new skills!

The second program is our Gathered Youth Night. Once a month we meet on Sunday Evenings at 6:30, following Mass, in the Parish Hall. Our evening begins with a meal, followed by an ice breaker or community builder. We then cover our topic in large groups breaking up into small group discussion, conclude with prayer at 8:30. This larger group is much more active then our Wednesday night group but we still get a great deal out of it.

We have tackled such topics as our inner beauty and changing for friends by using "Shrek 2" or “The Apprentice: The Boardroom of Life” and learning the why, who and how of helping others. In the Future we have such topics as “What’s so Holy about Holy Thursday” and “Coach Carter: Live your Values and Reach Your Potential.” This often invigorating evening is growing and in need of parents and other adults who will help with the kitchen clean up or to lead small groups. Our plans in the future are: to offer leadership training for a Core HS Team, for a High School Search in the fall of 2006, to attend the Diocesan Fall Retreat, and to have a group attend a week long service -learning experience in the summer of 2007. All of these events will be yearly activities.

Anyone in High School is welcome to join us on either of these nights. Even though we follow a Catholic Faith Vision, all are welcome. Feel free to come down one night and find out what is new and exciting at HNCC High School Youth Group.
